Thus Spake Saki Akomea
They call me Saki Akomea. I am many things.
I will speak of myself soon but first let me tell you about my bird brothers.
KɔkɔSakyi and Akoo Sakyi, these are their names.
KɔkɔSakyi, the bastard vulture. Akoo Sakyi, the wanton parrot.
KɔkɔSakyi the bastard vulture of the ruins, who lives his dark ways in the shadows where men care not to look. he knows all the secrets of death. he guards them with his wits, his ability to confound the simple minded. so he is never hunted. those who seek him come to believe he knows nothing and so they don’t bother him. but he knows it all. KɔkɔSakyi the immortal bastard vulture tells tall tales; my ears are deep and gossip soothes my heart and so I listen. he knows what all men do when the sun goes to roost. he has told me everything. about each one of you.
Akoo Sakyi the wanton parrot who makes his homes in any tree, in any house. he lives to be known and heard so he wears bright colors and says whatever men want to hear him say. promiscuous fellow with no alliances; every conversation is a game to him. flattery is how he makes his way into private homes. a whore of a bird who chooses the cage so he can listen and watch what goes on from when the sun begins to climb up the sky, till when it retires. Akoo Sakyi the immoral wanton parrot only tells truths when he sings. my ears are tender, and his lyrics rouse my spirit so I listen. he knows all that men say when it is day. he has told me everything. about each one of you.
And so I have stories to tell. I know them because my bird brothers know what all men say and what all men do. What men want to be known for and what men will burn villages just to hide. Who wishes to be king and who drops his crown to watch maiden nipples at the rivers where they bathe. So when appellations rain on any king anywhere, one brother adds his own to the deluge, while the other counts the number of royal farts let out at the durbars. And me? I listen so I can tell who wants to hear.
So lend me your ears let me plant gossip corn in your fertile gossip minds. You know you’re curious, lend me your ears you know I have information for you, lend me your ears. Your curiosity grows as this fire dies, so lend me your ears let us not waste the night. lend me your ears. lend me your ears, hush now let me tell you about the young man they call Saki Akomea.
The one who can convince viper’s venom to not sting. He who persuades coconuts out of palm trees; tells lies like an oracle; lies that truths grow out of. lend me your ears let me tell you about Saki Akomea.
